Turkey Day

For the past 8 years we have been going to our friend's James and Keri's family's Thanksgiving. We crashed it 8 years ago and discovered that we are actually the only ones who haven't missed one Thanksgiving since we started going! We love it and go even though Keri and James can only make it every other year. This year was great as we got to meet their 4 month old daughter and Addy got to play with Lily who's 5 and all of her toys, including a new ping pong table. I ate so much it hurt and clearly forgot that I have a baby fighting for space in my belly. That's what Thanksgiving is all about right? 

Bestest Friends

Last weekend Addy had her BFF Luella over for a play date. She is her friend from her old school that she's known since she was a baby and she was here almost all day and the two girls didn't have one fight or meltdown. That's what you call a best friend!
It was so cute to see them together. They are so similar it's crazy. We especially loved listening to the conversations that they had with each other and their dolls. There was a lot of "mothering" going on which was really fun to see. Although by far the cutest part was that the two girls took a nap together and held hands the whole time. The bond they share is so sweet and I love to see that Addy already knows the importance of a good girl friend. And yes, they wore tutus and flower headbands the ENTIRE day.

Ear We Go Again...

It was over a year ago when Addy had ear tubes put into both ears. After the surgery we had to go back several times because they couldn't see into one of her ears to check the tube. After 3 failed attempts & Dr. appointments we were told to just "wait and see" and hopefully whatever was in there would fall out (most likely dried blood). Thankfully the tubes were a huge success and Addy did not have 1 ear infection and barely even got sick during this past year. A few weeks ago she went in for her 3 year appointment and when the pediatrician checked her ears she said that the left tube had fallen out.  But, she still couldn't see into the right ear. She recommended that we go back to the ear doctor to get it checked out again so we know if the tube is still  there and to see if they could remove whatever is blocking her ear. So back we went again, just for the ear doctor to say that the blockage was too hard for him to remove so we needed to use drops for two weeks to see if it would soften. Back on the drops we went (same drops we used the year before unsucessfully) and in the meantime we switched to an ear doctor that was closer to our house and easier to get to. This doctor was a bit surprised to see the drops that were prescribed because he didn't think they would do anything to help soften it. Of course, they didn't, and he coudn't remove it, so he recommended that we try putting drops of olive oil in her ear every day. Another week of drops for poor Addy and another Dr. appointment yesterday and big surprise no luck! Unfortunately when he tried to remove it Addy really started to cry and gave him quite the stink eye. Now our only option is for her to be put under so they can remove the blockage and tube once and for all. Lucky us. Oh well, at least this time we will know it's taken care of and maybe the 8th time will be the charm!

Picture Days

Shortly after Addy started at her new school they had picture day, which was ironic because at her old school they had just done it as well (remember the awesome backgrounds?). I'm happy to say these pictures turned out a little better. Yes, still a little cheesy, but I think all school pictures are to some degree. Addy was very excited and is clearly becoming a big girl. The school even gave her a shirt with her picture on it which she loves!

Happy Halloween

It is no surprise that Adelyn was super excited to wear her Cinderella costume another time for Halloween. She couldn't wait to put it on, but we decided that after spending all weekend trying to clean up the glitter than had invaded our house from the first time she wore it, this time she would only be allowed to wear it outside of our house. So right when we got to school she put it on and she didn't take it off all day. Brian took her to the huge Halloween event on Main Street and although she was initially a little scared and overwhelmed by everything, eventually she got into it. I took her trick-or-treating on our street and she loved it and loved telling everyone she was Cinderella and was very disappointed if someone wasn't home. "But why aren't they home, I need to see them." she would say. She got a ton of candy from only going to a few places and now it's our job to make her forget about the candy without eating it all ourselves. Good thing this holiday is only once a year!
