Sleepover

Grandma Wendy and Grandpa Scott came to visit which meant Addy got to sleep in our bed. It's both sweet and horrible at the same time. She starts out great, all warm and cozy and cuddly and then you get a kick in the face and then a kick to the back and then she all but pushes you out of the bed. Brian actually moved downstairs to the couch at one point. But it was all worth it because we had such a great time with Grandma and Grandpa. On Saturday we braved the rain to head to a State Park and were so glad we did! The weather cleared up and we had a beautiful day with the most amazing views. I love that even though we've lived here as long as we have there are still so many beautiful places we've never been to. Deception Pass is my new favorite.
The kids enjoyed throwing rocks in the water. I think Cameron would have run right into the water if we let him. It was such a great day.

Son of a Preacher Man

Every day at school they say a prayer before they eat and now Cameron always reminds us to say a prayer during dinner. It is so cute because he will fold his hands and say "pray?" We say the prayer (the Lord is good to me) and he just bobs his head back and forth with a huge grin. It's just plain adorable.
Then at the end he does an arm raise with a fist and yells "Amen" which is quite possibly the funniest thing I've ever seen. He sounds like he should be at the front of a church leading the congregation and he looks like a cheerleader. He does it almost every night and it is my favorite part of dinner.

Egg Hunts

The kids were very spoiled this year because they got to do three separate egg hunts. One at school, one at home and one at Kim and Rob's. As usual we all had a fabulous time at their house. The food was delicious, we ate too much and the weather cooperated for the outdoor egg hunt. Addy got to do one first while Cameron refused to take his nap, and then we got to do it again with him. It was so fun to watch them play, Cameron looked like such a big boy finding the eggs.

Family Photos

I was determined to get some good shots of my family today in our Easter best and am happy to say I got a few that make me proud.

And then there are of course, a few that just make me laugh.

Easter Morning

It was a fun-filled morning as the kids opened their Easter baskets and did the egg hunt all before 9 am church. Cameron was the first one up so he got to open his basket alone. Everything started off great. He was very excited about the bubbles and I think would have been content with just those, then he noticed the truck. All was well when the truck was off and just sitting there like a normal truck. But then I tuned it on and the truck started talking, and moving, and then the trauma set in. Cameron was absolutely horrified by the truck. It was both hilarious and heartbreaking at the same time.
Here is the before evidence:

And then after the truck moved and started talking:

It was terrible, just terrible. This of course woke Addy up. Luckily her experience was far less traumatic.

She was a great big sister during the egg hunt and helped Cameron find a lot of eggs and she always left the green and blue ones for him. He was not allowed to find any pink eggs.

Tulip Town

This past weekend we had the best day ever! We took our annual trip up to the tulip festival and had a great time. It helped that the weather was beautiful and sunny too. The kids were great and the flowers were beautiful as always. Cameron was very good about not walking into or pulling the flowers. Addy loved all of the flowers and no matter how hard I pressed couldn't pick her favorite "I love them all" she just kept saying. No matter how many times we see them I can never get over just how striking an entire field of tulips really is. The kids had a great time and we love our annual tradition.

16 months

Cameron is 16 months old! His vocabulary is exploding, every day he adds several new words. He now says "no" to things which before his answer was always "yeah." He's becoming pickier with food and only seems to like things off of Brian's plate. It's actually quite funny because we always all have the same thing for dinner every night, but Cameron won't eat what is on his plate, but will happily pick at the same food on Brian's plate. And it's impossible to say no because he always says "please."
He's always trying to open doors to get out of a room and is always trying to climb up on things. His favorite is to try and climb up on the bed and then once he's up there he falls straight forward, I swear he could do this for hours. He loves finding his eyes, ears, nose, belly, etc and then loves to find mine. Every night he leans in to my face and then pokes at my eyes, nose and mouth.
He is clearly more opinionated now. He hates diaper changes and fights them, he hates his car seat and fights it and he loves reading books, but only the ones he picks and he's in control of when the pages turn.
We are still working on "gentle touch"but he is getting much better with it. Today I saw him give all of his friends hugs which was so adorable to see.
