Rainbow Day

Last week at school Addy had a few themed days including "rainbow" day. She was excited to pick out colorful things and had the great idea of putting braids in her hair the night before so she had curly hair. She managed to combine "crazy hair" day into the same day. She loved it!

A Week of "yay days!"

Adelyn and Cameron clearly enjoyed their week with Grandma and Grandpa. They went to the children's museum, went swimming, went for walks, went to the beach, took a ferry, played outside, ate ice cream, went to the library and of course read lots of books. Grandma had the great idea of braiding Addy's hair before bed so the next day it was really curly. She loved it! Addy, of course, got her hair cut from Grandma per usual. She looks like such a grown up girl to me.

8 months

Cameron turned 8 months last week. He has 4 teeth, he crawls everywhere, is eating finger food and loves it and is talking like crazy. He does these hilarious little grunts that get louder and louder the more he wants stuff. He is so charming, he gives away his smiles to anyone and is just starting to get shy and turns and nuzzles his head into your shoulder. It's so cute. He almost gives you a little hug when he snuggles in and it's just the best feeling in the world.  He also is starting to enjoy books a lot more and actually pays attention to them. He is a fairly good sleeper at night and sleeps all the way through about half of the time. He remains a short napper, but it still taking 3 naps a day. He has almost outgrown the infant car seat so we're moving him up. He's growing even faster than Addy did at his age and is definitely not a baby anymore.

Miss Me When I'm Gone

I'm back! After a week away from Brian, Adelyn and Cameron I was so happy to come home and see my family. I had a great time on my trip, it wasn't quite as relaxing as I'd hope but was so fun. I was so ready to come back and see them though. I had spent so much time looking forward to this trip and having a break and getting away. While I was gone, I realized how much I love my hectic and busy life and I couldn't wait to get back to it. I feel like the kids aged a month while I was gone. Adelyn is so mature and the stories she tells are so detailed and specific I can't believe it. Cameron is truly a new boy. He crawls so quickly everywhere, he can climb up one of the steps, and he pulls himself up. I swear he even looks older. It was so great to see both kids, I missed them so much. Luckily, they were very well taken care of while I was gone by Brian and his parents. They had a wonderful time and clearly the kids did as well. I am so lucky to have such a wonderful husband and kids and in-laws. I feel so grateful for everything I have and this trip was a great reminder for me to just enjoy it.

First Time versus Second Time

Oh how having another child changes your perspective on things. Last weekend I went out with some of my mom friends who all have one child around Cameron's age. When I told them I was getting ready to go out of town for a week they responded with such concern and sympathy for me. I heard "oh, that is going to be so hard" and "how are you going to make it?" and "I couldn't imagine doing that." I just nodded and smiled.

But when I told the same news to 2nd or even 3rd time moms they responded with such envy and excitement. The statements were "that is so awesome, what are you going to do with all of that free time?" and "good for you, that is going to be amazing" and "I am SO jealous". I just nodded and smiled.

Girls Just Wanna Have Fun

Proof of what happens when 3 years olds yet together. The "blue dress" was everyone's favorite because of the bling. They called it the "ice-skating princess dress."

 A tea party for princesses. Lots of screaming, lots of "she's not sharing with me" and "now it's my turn" or "it's taking her a long time". 

Boys Just Wanna Have Fun

Cameron is often surrounded by princesses and fairies and screaming girls on play dates. He of course loves it because anything his big sister does is amazing to him. Last weekend he went to a birthday party with Addy and finally had some fun for himself. He absolutely loved the barbie car.

Houston...We Have a Crawler

It's official. Cameron is crawling. He has been soooo close for awhile now and his teacher said he was doing it but we had yet to see it. Today he showed off his skills to Brian. He was already very mobile because he could "inchworm" his way across the room. But now he can do it with purpose and he's crawling. I'm officially not ready for this new stage. What happened to my little baby?
