First Sleepover

Friday night Addy had her first sleepover! She was invited to her friend Maya's house. She was so excited she couldn't stop talking about it. She definitely had a great time and clearly didn't miss us at all. She barely had time to say good-bye to me when I dropped her off and she was so unhappy when Brian picked her up the next morning. They watched movies, played dress-up and did face painting. I don't think she actually slept much but she definitely had fun. Can't wait to do it again!

Gramma Day Care

The kids' daycare is moving locations so they had to close for a week. Luckily Grandma Wendy was available to come out and watch the kids. I really don't know who gets more excited for her visits, Brian and I, or the kids. For me, it's amazing how much more time I have in the morning when I don't  have to wrangle two kids, get them dressed, feed them breakfast and head off to daycare all in time to catch the train. I feel so relaxed when she's here! It certainly doesn't hurt that on the first day she had coffee and pancakes ready when I came downstairs.
The kids are having a blast as usual. They've played outside for hours, went to the library, went out for frozen yogurt and had an evening to themselves with Grandma while Brian and I went out for a date night. It is truly a win-win for everyone:)
Addy loves sleeping with Grandma in her bed and Cameron loves going in each morning to wake her up!

Big Boy Bed

A week ago Brian decided it was time and took the railing off Cameron's crib. Amazingly he had never climbed out, but it seemed like it was time. Although honestly, if it were just up to me I think I would keep him in the crib until he was 5 years old! We did it and he did great. In fact the next morning he got up (at 5:30 on the dot) and went to the bathroom and went pee-pee all by himself! We couldn't believe it and thought maybe this was the key to the potty training. Of course he didn't do it the next few days, but he has actually done it again since. The most amazing thing is that he wakes up at 5:30 or earlier, no matter what time he goes to bed.
Last night we were downstairs and Cameron had already been asleep for over an hour and we heard a loud crash. Poor little guy had fallen out of his bed, but he was ok and went back in again. Overall the transition was great and he's had no transition issues. I can't believe my little baby is growing up so fast!

A Not So Secret Surprise

A few weeks ago when Brian was out of town, I took the kids to get their pictures taken which was supposed to be a surprise for Brian for Father's Day. I should know better by now. The very first thing Cameron said to Brian when he got back was "We got pictures taken! It's a surprise for you! It's for Father's Day!" Of course Addy then yelled, "Don't tell him Cameron, shhhh don't say anything."

So much for the surprise! Oh well, here are some of the pics. Not great, not terrible, at least the kids were really good that day and I guess I should be glad they can't keep secrets yet.

Happy Father's Day!

Backyardigans

We had a busy and beautiful Father's Day weekend! On Saturday Brian put the tent up in the backyard. We were all going to sleep in it but Cameron decided he wanted to sleep with me in my bed and I just couldn't refuse. So Brian and Addy slept in the tent and Cameron slept with me...inside the house. But first we all enjoyed some yummy s'mores.  The kids had a blast and are excited for us to take a real camping trip this summer.

Here We Go Again

I was about to write a post yesterday saying that Addy was finally better- no more hives, no more fever.  I should have known better. Yesterday afternoon I suddenly felt very feverish and sick. Within 20 minutes Addy was on the couch next to me, also not feeling well. Brian took her temperature and sure enough her fever was back. She and I spent the afternoon on the couch and by 6:00 Brian was feeling terrible as well. He was luckily able to muster up enough energy to get Cameron ready for bed, but Addy and I barely moved. She spent the night with me in my room while Brian slept in her room. It was a long night for everyone. Luckily I started feeling better by mid-morning and Addy seems almost normal again. Cameron is back at school today but the rest of us are taking it easy. Ironically enough it was exactly a year ago that we all came down with the flu. Hopefully this won't become our June tradition.

Caricature

Last weekend was the waterfront festival so we took the kids down to check it out. After the jumping houses and big slides we decided to embrace the entire festival experience and have the kids get their caricatures. They were both really good and now we have a new picture of them! I'm not sure how much it really looks like them but it was still fun.

Sun Hat

The kids found my sun hat and couldn't resist a little modeling. I honestly don't know who looks more ridiculous in it, them or me.

Old Fashioned Car Wash

It was in the 80's all weekend so we had a great time outside enjoying the beautiful weather. After spending the morning at the beach and having a picnic, Brian decided to wash my car. Cameron, of course, wanted to "help". It was the perfect thing, relaxing on a chair watching my "boys" wash my car.

Unsolved Mysteries

The adventure continues with Addy and her bumps. Thursday night the hives were back and she had a fever. Friday the fever was gone but the hives were still there. I called the Dr. and they said to come in on Saturday if she had a fever. Luckily she didn't but her hives continued to come and go all weekend. This time they weren't itchy at all and weren't bothering her, but they really are a mystery. I've never seen anything like this. She's managed through like a champ now and takes her Benedryl like a pro and the hives always go away. Fingers crossed they don't come back this week!

Fever Fatigue

Brian and I (well technically speaking just Addy) are officially suffering from "fever fatigue." Addy continues to have an on-again-off-again fever. One day she's perfectly normal the next she has a fever. There is no rhyme or reason. This weekend she was perfectly fine all day both days, but both nights had a fever. This morning she had no sign of a fever but after getting home from school sure enough it was back. Her energy and appetite seem to be fairly normal and there has been no sign of the bumps again, but she definitely has a cough and a runny nose (which she seems to be sharing with Brian). Hopefully the Dr. can help us with this mystery tomorrow and get her on the road to recovery once and for all.

**Update**
Mystery fever appears to be solved. Bronchitis. At least that's the Dr.'s theory. He thinks the two fevers are most likely two separate issues. The first was "viral hives" and this one is bronchitis. She didn't have a fever today and the Dr. said as long as she doesn't have a fever by Thursday we should be in the clear. Fingers crossed.
