17 months

Adelyn is 17 months old today. She is definitely a chatterbox and is talking all of the time. She is pretty good at repeating most words that you say. She knows most of the parts of the body, a lot of different animal sounds and basic commands like go upstairs, wash hands, drink milk, brush teeth and sit down. She is obsessed with shoes right now. She loves to carry them, pick them up, find mom and dad's shoes, make us put them on, anything to do with shoes and she's interested. She is still a very good eater but there actually are a few things she won't eat. She's not a fan of squash, zucchini or beets but she is obsessed with bananas, pasta and bread. She is finally showing some signs of attachment to something other than her nook, she has a little blanket doll that we've been putting in her crib for months and she just now is starting to pay attention to it. She still loves her nook the best, but she only gets it when she's in her crib. Here she is trying to sneak it out of the crib and then ignoring me while I tell her no.

Jump Around

Today we went to a party to celebrate the official adoption of Addy's friend Silas. It was so much fun, tons of toys and a huge jumping house. Addy wanted nothing to do with going inside of it, but she was happy to check things out from the outside. Maybe next time she see's one she'll want to go inside.

Crazypants

Of course right after I wrote about how much fun Addy is right now she had a week of complete extremes. She would go from hysterically laughing to hysterically crying in seconds. If she was in the best mood ever in the morning with me, chances were good she would be a disaster for Brian in the afternoon. If she took a long nap, which normally meant she should be happy, she would be a crab; if she took hardly any nap, which usually means disaster, she would be happy as can be. The worst was when she would cry no matter what you did. She wanted to be held but she'd cry, so you'd set her down and she'd cry, she'd want her milk but then she'd throw it and then cry. We haven't hit the "terrible two's" yet but she's definitely getting difficult!

These are the Days

It feels as if Adelyn has aged 6 months in the past week. She is on the verge of a "word explosion" and the past week has been so much fun. Proud doesn't even begin to explain how we feel. Here have been some of my favorite moments.

- She says yucky (pronounced "ducky") at the appropriate time. Like when she eats something she doesn't like, when she picks up garbage off the ground, or when she puts stuff she shouldn't into her mouth.
- We took her to a park that had ducks and she could not stop saying "duckayuckaduckaducka" when we got home and found a book she pointed to every duck and said "duckayuckaduckaducka"
- She knows how to say "sit down" and will tell you to do that before we eat, or if she wants you to read to her, or if you're holding her and she wants to sit down.
- She knows that a cow says "moo" and sheep says "baa" and a duck says "duckayuckaduckaducka"
- She now says thank you (pronounced "hank oo") and says it after everything! Her favorite is if she hands you something then she says thank you to you.
- And of course our old favorite "good-bye". She says this constantly. If you throw something away, put her clothes away, finish a book, close a door, put on a jacket, pretty much any occasion calls for a "good-bye" or even the occasional "good-bye-bye".

This stage is so much fun. I love that the constant babble is staring to turn into real words.

A Day at the Park

It was finally a beautiful day so we got outside as much as we could. We went to a couple different parks and Addy had so much fun playing on the equipment. She mastered the slide, sat on the teeter-totter and climbed up and down everything there was. It was so great to finally see the sun and spend some time outside.

Happy St. Patrick's Day

Addy just wanted to wish all of you a Happy St. Patty's Day! I'm not even 100% sure she has any Irish in her (I'm not sure I have any in me, don't let the red hair fool you) but I'm sure there must be a little in there somewhere.

Law & Order

It was a windy and rainy weekend so we happened to spend a lot of it in indoors. After hitting the gymnastics place for open gym we decided to do some shopping. Lucky for Addy all of our shopping was for her. She got some new clothes and some new shoes, even though she was none too happy about trying on the shoes. After we got home I was unpacking the bags and found a size 3 month green summer dress. I asked Brian if he had bought it, he said he didn't. I knew I didn't buy it so that left only one option. Apparently, while walking through one of the stores (that we didn't even end up buying anything at!) Addy must have grabbed the skirt off the rack without us noticing. I'm still not quite sure how we got her in the car without noticing but it wasn't until we got home I realized we didn't buy it. I promise I'll return it next time we're there, I just hope they aren't too hard on Addy.

Gym Time

This past weekend Brian got to spend the entire weekend with Addy since I was traveling for work. He took her to the new gymnastics academy by our house for their open gym. He said that she was mesmerized by all of the other kids. He even got some video of her that was adorable. Here are a few pics of their adventure. I can't wait to go next time.

Mmmm...Medicine

So Addy was on amoxicillian for her ear infection and she couldn't be happier about it. I'm not kidding as soon as she sees the pink bottle she reaches for it and smacks her lips. This child loves medicine. Here are pictures of her right before and after getting a dose.
