Legoland Part II

Turns out we saw so much more than San Diego. We got to see San Francisco, New York City, Las Vegas and Washington DC. We even traveled to outer galaxies to see the land of Star Wars. The miniature world at Legoland was probably my favorite. I couldn't get over how realistic everything looked. The level of detail was absolutely amazing. The kids loved seeing the displays and it was especially funny when the birds would land on the building because they looked like giants. It was incredible!

Legoland Part 1

Legoland. Hands down the highlight of the trip. The weather turned out to be a blessing because the park wasn't crowded at all. We flew through the lines and were able to see everything in the park (except the waterpark area). This place was amazing. We never got tired of seeing the amazing lego displays and also got to ride some pretty incredible rides. We also learned an important lesson. Addy DOES NOT LIKE rollercoasters. She was very brave and went on her first real rollercoaster and very quickly realized it was not for her. But the other rides were great and the kids had a blast.

San Diego

Last weekend while Brian was off in Florida fishing my family (thanks again Dad!), I took the kids down to San Diego to see my friend Erin and her family. The kids were such good travelers and I swear their favorite part of the trip is always the shuttle ride to the airport. We had dreams of relaxing in the warm San Diego sun and going to the beach, but of course it was unseasonably cold in SD and was actually 15 degrees warmer in Seattle. We didn't let that slow us down though (who is better prepared for gray and overcast than us?) and we had an awesome trip. I couldn't believe how quickly the kids became attached to one another. We got to see them in their element and watched Baylee play softball and Noah play flag football. The girls had a blast making slime and the boys built a trap to catch smurfs. But clearly the highlight was.....

up next.

Uncle Dennis

Two weeks ago Uncle Dennis was in town visiting some friends and got to spend his Sunday at the baseball fields with us. First was Addy's softball game (she pitched!) and then immediately following was Cameron's t-ball game. He was such a good sport to spend the entire afternoon cheering for his neice and nephew. The kids got to hang out with him and night and in the morning and then he was off to the airport. I think it might have been the quickest family visit yet, but we packed a lot in.

The Knights & The Panthers

Little League season is well underway. Some weeks it feels like it's all we do because between games and practices (Brian is the assistant coach for both teams) we have to go to something 4 or 5 nights a week. The kids love it and are having fun on their teams. Cameron is playing t-ball on the Knights team, but he is already mastering the coach pitch transition. Addy's team is the Panthers and they have recently transitioned to the kids pitching. It's slowed the game down a bit, but the girls are improving with every game and Addy even got to pitch her first inning! We are incredibly proud of them.

A Whirlwind Trip

Two weeks ago we had a whirlwind visit with my sister, Sydney and Jan. They had a quick turnaround trip but we made the most of every minute and had so much fun. They got to be here for the very best day of weather yet, perfect summer day, and of course some not perfect days too. I can't believe how much we packed in! We saw the sites downtown, they went to the tulip fields, played some catch and went on a hike, enjoyed our crab dinner and of course they got lots and lots of shopping in. It was very cute to watch how much Cameron loved hanging out with Jan, he couldn't get enough of him. Hard to believe Sydney will be graduating HS in just a few weeks. Where have the years gone!?! Fun to see the cousins hanging out and we loved listening to Jan translate the Teenage Mutant Ninja turtles in German!

Bubbles the Fish

As you may recall, Addy recently wrote an amazing opinion paper. (see here to be reminded of her talents.) Well, we were so impressed that we went ahead with getting her a fish. In my mind we were just going to get a simple fishbowl and a fish and be done. But in true "do it well or don't do it at all" fashion, Brian made sure we did it well. That meant a tank, with lights, a heater, live plants- the whole 9 yards. But the most important part is that Addy got to pick out her fish and she picked out a beautiful Betta fish that she named Bubbles. She has been a great caretaker (as has Brian) and Bubbles seems like a pretty happy fish. Probably a lot happier than he would be in a simple little bowl.
