JumpStart!

This week Cameron started JumpStart, which is the week when new kindergartners get to check out the school and meet their teachers. Of course Cameron already knows everything about the school since he has been following Addy there for years, but he was still very excited. He saw a lot of old friends and met some new ones. We are especially excited because we found out he got the same teacher that Addy had in kindergarten who we loved. Cameron also found out that one of his best friends is in his class (watch out!)
It is so funny how different this feels from when Addy started school. It's hard to believe that the time has finally come when both kids go to the same school. We are so excited for them to start, but are very grateful that there is still a week of summer left.

Libraries Rock!

Even though school is not in session, the kids have been hard at work reading all summer. The library had a reading challenge for the summer and the kids logged their hours. We turned them in yesterday and they got a certificate and got to pick out a book to keep. Addy finished her new book the same day! When I asked her about it she said, "I don't own any books I haven't already read, so as soon as I got this book I had to finish it." Cameron is getting really good at his reading too and this morning when I asked him to read me a book, after he finished it he said, "I nailed that one."
Brian also took the kids to the reading events at the school library this summer which they loved. It makes me so happy to see how much my kids love reading.

Summer Fun

It's hard to believe summer is already winding down. Brian and the kids have certainly been busy and have made the most of it. I swear that every day they have something planned or go on an adventure. When they aren't on play dates with friends or at camp, they go to the zoo, to the beach, to various parks, the library, the pool, and if that isn't enough they find time to collect fruits and veggies from the garden (raspberries, strawberries, peas, beans, kale, parsley), go crabbing, and I think some version of baseball makes its way into each day.
I always look forward to getting the download of how they spent their day and am truly amazed at what a wonderful job Brian does at keeping them busy, making sure they are having fun, AND most impressively, keeping the peace between the two of them. I don't know how he does it, but he sure makes it look easy.

Kids Make Your Meal

Last week Addy showed some interest in learning how to make mac n cheese and quesedillas and afterwards I told her that she should make Daddy lunch sometime. So the very next day the kids worked feverishly and preparing a menu full of options for Brian to choose from. The restauarant was called "Kids Make you Lunch" and below is a picture of the menu.

Some of my favorite things include the explanation of PB&J (just in case you didn't know), the comment of "or other deli meat" and that beer is an option for drinks. The kids were very hard on the meal and Brian was very appreciative of the food. Is this the beginning of a new phase for us, kids make you lunch?

Here are the kids hard at work and the wonderful meal.

Two Front Teeth

It's official! It's corn on the cob season and Cameron will have to wait until next summer before he can fully participate! About a week ago Cameron's other front tooth was so loose that it literally just fell out while he was sleeping. I wasn't surprised because that night before bed he was able to basically turn the tooth entirely around and it was just barely hanging on. He looks so different now, I can't believe how quickly he's growing up.
