VBS

Last week the kids did their VBS week and this was the first year that Cameron was old enough to join. It was a different program this year so they didn't see much of each other, but both had a good time. Brian and I went to the program on the final evening where the kids sang the songs that they learned and talked about what they did all week. The funniest part was that while all of the kids were singing the group songs, Cameron and one other boy just stood up front with their ears covered. They did it the entire time, it was hilarious!

Farmer Brian

We have been ordering a produce delivery from a local farm for almost 2 years now and last weekend they hosted an open house as a chance to come tour the farm and see where the food is grown that we get delivered each week. It was a beautiful drive to the very cute family run farm. Brian and I thought it was fascinating to hear this 1st generation farm family's point of view on organic farming and growing food in our region. Unfortunately, I don't think the kids had the same point of view. They were good sports though and the only pic I got was of them looking at herd of cows.
I think the visit was inspiration for Brian who's real dream is to turn our home into a farm. He's on his way with our chickens and our impressive garden. So far we've enjoyed our peas, lettuce, raspberries and broccoli. The tomatoes are next!

Fireworks

I realize this is a few weeks late, but we had a great 4th of July. We love walking downtown to enjoy the parade and this year enjoyed it with a number of our neighborhood families. We hung out all day and had perfect weather every day of the weekend. Addy and Brian went to the fireworks show, while Cameron and I enjoyed getting some sleep (or at least tried to!)

A Happy Camper

This past weekend we embarked on our first camping trip of the summer. A 3 day, 2 night adventure right off the Puget Sound. It was a repeat visit to one of the campgrounds we loved from last year. The weather was perfect and there wasn't a ban burn! That meant we could enjoy in what is everyone's favorite part of camping- S'mores!
This year was a little different in that it was the first night the kids slept by themselves in their tent! They were super excited. The first night was a little rocky because Cameron woke up a few times and was crying because he couldn't figure out how to get open the zipper, but night # 2 was a success. Unfortunately for me, I came down with a nasty cold and could not sleep in the tent for a 2nd night so I slept in the car. It wasn't actually all bad (compared to the tent) so I might use this as my first choice going forward!
We had a great time though and enjoyed beautiful days on the beach, hikes and just enjoyed hanging out and eating A.TON.OF. FOOD.
It was a great summer weekend and it makes me so happy to see how happy camping makes my kids (and husband!). It is good for the soul.

Sitting by the Dock

Last week Brian decided to take the kids fishing and they went to three local lakes! They didn't catch anything, but both kids got really good at casting and they had a great time. Brian sent me photos throughout the day and it looked like they were having a great time. What a great way to spend a summer day.

"Master" Cameron

We recently got Cameron's parent report from his preschool teacher and she had such nice things to say about Cameron. He got M's (for Mastery) across all categories and she wrote this wonderful summary about our little man.

Cameron is a sweet and tender little guy, but also spunky and fun! Cameron is highly social, and loves the company of his friends. he is able to work well independently, but would much prefer to be engaged in creative or dramatic play with a group of buddies! Cameron is a good cooperator and problem solver. He is generous with his friends, but also able to speak up for his own wishes when resolving conflicts. Cameron shows excellent attention at group times and is always engaged in active learning and play in the classroom. He is great with the routine of our classroom, but also easily manages change and transitions. Cameron is just very well settled emotionally with a great sense of ease and confidence. This bright, curious, loving and kind boy is ready for all the fun and challenges of Pre-K. Cameron has been an absolute joy to teach this ear and has found a special place in my heart.

What more could a parent ask for? We are so proud of him and will miss his wonderful teacher from preschool.
