What's Yours is Mine

I've always joked that Addy should be a detective. Whenever I try and hide something from her she sniffs it out instantly, and literally if it has to do with food. That girl can smell something from a mile away. The other night while they were playing I snuck a few peanut butter pretzels. Several minutes later I walk in and Addy says "I smell peanut butter, mommy were you eating something?"
And perhaps more than once I've snuck something for dessert hoping she wouldn't notice but of course she does every time. Then she always reminds me that "whatever I have she wants to have too" and then she proceeds to help herself.

Cameron is the same when it comes to sensing if he is going to be left out of something. Often times we tell Addy she can watch TV either during Cameron's nap or after he goes to bed at night. As soon as I lean over to whisper something to Addy, Cameron just yells, "I want to do it too!" Addy has been good about pretending to Cameron that she's not doing anything fun but I think he even has figured her out.  Brian and I have to tell him that we are just doing "boring work" or going to the "boring store" whenever we go or do something without him so that he doesn't feel left out. I'm not sure that it's really working because he always makes it clear that he wants to be included in everything and is quite upset at the mere thought of being left out.

Fairytale & Superhero day

Friday was the last day of spirit week at school and it was "Fairytale & Superhero" day. Cameron wore his superman pajamas and Addy wore her Ariel dress. They could not have been more excited. Every day that week Cameron had asked if it was time to wear his Superman pajamas and multiple times both kids said that they wished every day they could wear these clothes. I don't think they will adjust very well to just going back to regular school days this week.

Crazy Hair Day

It's spirit week at the kids school and yesterday was crazy hair day. I had fun helping them create their crazy hair inspiration. Cameron looked like he had a faux mohawk, but by the time Brian picked him up he only had one little ponytail left, much to Addy's despair since they were her pony tail holders. Addy was going for a funny/crazy/beautiful flower fairy look.

Happy St. Patty's Day!

We really got into St. Patty's day this year because Adelyn had to make a leprechaun trap for school. It was so much fun we made one for Cameron too. And the kids got decked out in their St. Patty's day gear and we made green cookies!

Super Heros

Adelyn made a superhero cape at school the other day and she loved it so much she made another one for Cameron so they can be superheros at home together.

Ferry Fun

More pictures from the fun with Grandma and Grandpa. The took the ferry and went out for breakfast and played at the park. Basically they had a blast and I worked...at least someone got to have tons of fun.

Grandpa's Rule!

We were lucky enough to have Grandma AND Grandpa come stay with us last week. Unfortunately I was out of town for most of it, but clearly everyone had a great time. The kids were angels for them and saved all of their meltdowns for Brian to deal with. Grandma & Grandpa took the kids to the children museum, enjoyed the sunny weather at the park, went to the library, went out for frozen yogurt and went to the beach. They also played all of our games at home and now Adelyn can beat me (for real) at mancala.
Cameron especially took to Grandpa Scott and insisted that they do everything together. One morning Wendy went to get Cameron but Cameron told her he wanted Grandpa instead. It was very cute to see the two together. After they left Cameron said to me, "My Grandpa is Scott and my name is Cameron Scott" I think he finally gets the connection.

What a Difference A Day Makes

We had beautiful spring weather last weekend and we tried to get outside as much as possible. On Saturday Brian was outside with Addy trying to get her to officially learn to ride her bike. I can always tell when things aren't going well when they both come in frustrated. It was one of those days.
But Sunday was a new day and apparently that was all we needed (and maybe a seat that was a little lower to the ground).
I went out with her on Sunday and within just a few minutes it suddenly clicked and she realized she could ride on her own. Once she figured it out she was unstoppable (quite literally since she hadn't mastered how to brake yet). She was so confident and was having so much fun it was so awesome to see. Yes, the knee pads and elbow pads are overkill, but she definitely felt safe. We couldn't believe that she was suddenly riding all on her own. Cameron kept yelling, "Good job Addy!" We were so proud that she even got a special treat of going out for frozen yogurt afterwards. It was a well-deserved treat, but probably very dangerous because while were eating she asked "what special thing could I try next so I can come back here for another treat?" This girl knows what motivates her.
