Adventures in Shopping

I love to go shopping, but shopping with a 2 year old is not my idea of fun. A few months ago I tried to go shoe shopping with Addy but she literally had a fit every time I tried a pair of shoes on. She would yell "no take off your shoes Mama! No try on shoes." Needless to say, it's awfully hard to buy new shoes when your daughter won't let you try any on. Last weekend I was at a shoe store with Addy again and I was hoping she had forgotten about her "rules." Luckily, she had, but this time she had new ones. Instead of Mama trying on any shoes, Addy wanted to try on all of the shoes. Of course, she didn't want to try on the shoes I was looking at, she went for the sparkly high heels. Again, it's impossible to find shoes when you are chasing your daughter down the high heel aisle or trying to prevent her from falling down while walking in heels. This trip was definitely more fun, but still completely unproductive. No wonder I have dreams about going shopping all by myself.

Spring Snow?

Last weekend we had some of the craziest weather ever. While ALL of the country seems to be having summer weather, we got SNOW! It was crazy. Addy was really excited and then just a couple hours later it was beautiful sun. The weather then changed about every hour, rain, sun, wind, sun, rain. Addy is so confused & mama is just counting the days until summer.
We've been singing a lot of "rain, rain, go away."

Slowly but Surely

Addy's hair continues to grow so s.l.o.w.l.y. but she is definitely becoming more interested in it and more interested in ponytails. Most of the kids in her new room are girls and the teacher loves to put their hair in pony's so lately Addy has been coming home with ponytails and is SO excited to show them off. Here is the proof, have you ever seen anyone so proud of anything?

I Do It Myself

Adelyn is certainly an independent, slightly stubborn, young lady (I have no idea where she gets that from!?) I feel like all I hear from her is "no, I do it myself" or "don't help me mama, I do it." While I love to see her independence it is also a huge drain on time. Everything takes twice as long when she does it herself and this mama is low on patience. The other week Addy was insistent on trying on our shoes, by herself, (while not wearing pants) and it was so funny I had to grab the camera. Luckily we had nowhere to be so there was plenty of time to try on mama's rainboots, daddy's tennis shoes, mama's work shoes & daddy's flip-flops. All by herself!

Coffee Yucky?

Brian and I love coffee. A lot. It might be our favorite thing about the morning. Our love for coffee has definitely been noticed by Adelyn, even though we always tell her that coffee is yucky. She loves to point it out at every chance. Most nights Brian grinds the coffee beans so they're ready in the morning. Addy hears the grinder and yells, "coffee!" On weekend mornings when Addy and I are the first ones up, she usually asks, "you make coffee Mama?" on the way to the kitchen and then gets really excited when I start to make it. Every day on our walk to school we pass a Starbucks and Addy yells, "coffee! you get coffee in there!" She notices it at the grocery store too & gets excited. She even has her own little tiny Starbucks mug that she likes to drink out of and she pretends she's drinking yucky coffee. Let's just hope she continues to think its yucky for a long time to come.

"Waddler" To "Toddler"

This week Addy moved to the next classroom at school. She has always been the oldest one in her classroom (the waddler room) and normally she wouldn't change until July, but there was an opening so she got to move up with the big kids! (the toddler room) So far, so good! Her teachers said she did a great job the first day & took a 3 hour nap. She hasn't any any transition issues and seems to be excited about making new friends. Now when we ask her who her friends are she says "big kids!" We are hoping this might help push her into the next phase of potty training because we are getting nowhere. Oh well, she'll figure it out eventually.
