We have finally had a break from the cold rainy weather and have had back to back beautiful weekends! That means lots of BBQ's, playing in the backyard and emerging from the house to hang out with neighbors again. We have been making the most of it and the kids are dirty, exhausted and sun-kissed every evening. This has been the best memorial day weather I can remember. It just doesn't get any better than this.

Wheel'n
Etta got to try out the strider bike during her visit. She seemed to like it and really enjoyed being out with the big kids on wheels! She walked around on the strider and rode and pushed the tricycle. She looked like a big kid herself out there. The other "big kids" Brian and Dennis showed off their 90's rollerskating skills. I'm not sure if Carrie and I were embarrassed or impressed. Actually, I do know.

Rain Rain Go Away
It was supposed to rain almost every day that Carrie and Dennis were here, but we really lucked out and had a lot unforecasted blue sky. We made the most of it and toured around downtown and walked along the beach, checked out the shops and even made our first visit of the year to the farmer's market. We got some great pics along the beach and watched the ferries go by.

Cousins!
Dennis and Carrie came to visit which meant Addy and Cameron got to enjoy time with their cousin Etta. They were loving on her every minute they could, which included following her every move, chasing her every step and giving her hugs and kisses as often as she would tolerate it. It was like she had two shadows the whole time she was here. It was adorable to watch the kids play and I think Etta was loving all of the attention she was getting, except when she wasn't. She mastered telling them "no" and the kids eventually figured out what all parents know, you can't get a toddler to do something they don't want to do.

Badge Ceremony
A couple weeks ago Addy had a girl scout ceremony where all the girls were awarded the badges they have earned so far. It was very cute to see the girls very serious in the ceremony and to see how proud they were to be awarded with the badges. First we celebrated with pizza, then they did the flag ceremony, received the badges and then celebrated with ice cream! It was super fun and Addy is lucky to be part of such a great troop.

A moment for Nugget
Last week was a sad day for our little flock as we lost one of our chickens, Nugget. She had been sick for over a week and Brian had been trying to get her back to good health, but was just too late. She hadn't been eating and then last week she died in the coop.
The kids responded very differently to the news. When Brian told them, Adelyn immediately started to cry and was very sad by the news. Cameron on the other hand couldn't stop laughing. I'd like to think that it's because he didn't know how to respond so he chose laughter, but I'm not really sure. Either way it didn't make Addy feel any better as he just couldn't stop laughing.
The kids decorated a box for nugget and they buried her in the backyard. Now our little trio of hens is down to two.
