9 months
Adelyn is 9 months old today. She has lots of new tricks now. She loves to wave hello and goodbye and I like to think she says "hi" but that might be a stretch. She does say "mama" finally but I'm not sure that she knows that its me. She still doesn't crawl but does get up on all fours and then usually decides to sit back down again. She loves to eat, especially finger foods that she can feed herself which is no problem because she now has 6 teeth. She got some new blocks to play with but seems to prefer to eat them rather than play with them. She is definitely my favorite part of every day.

Field Trip
Even though I haven't been able to go for months, my moms group still meets every Tuesday. This week they were taking a "field trip" to someone's lake home on Vashon Island and it sounded too good to pass up, so I took the day off. I'm so glad I did because it was so much fun. The weather was perfect, the scenery was amazing and the company was fantastic. It was so great to get together (again!) with all of the moms and babies & it was fun to take a little field trip on the ferry. Makes me wish this is what I did every Tuesday.

Pool Party
Today we had a "Family Day" summer BBQ/pool party with my moms group. I haven't seen the babies (or the moms) in several months and it was so much fun to hang out and catch up with everyone. We had the kids in the little pool, which was a little too cold for Addy, even on the hot day. We also got another group picture (minus 2 babies). It's amazing how much everyone has changed since the last picture when they were all on the couch. Addy also got to play on a bouncy chair for the first time which she really loved. In fact we scoped out several new toys that Addy had her eye on that we may just have to give them a try.

Summer Picnic
Tonight was our annual summer party for work. I have been at my job for over 6 years and every year we have a summer party. Boy have the parties changed over the years. We've traded in our booze for bottles and the debauchery for diapers. There has been a bit of a baby boom in the past couple years and it is so much fun to get the kids all together.

Mama & Me Time
This weekend I've been playing "single mom" while Brian is in Colorado for a wedding and it has gone so great. Adelyn has been an absolute angel and was very patient with me yesterday while I ran a bunch of errands. I think I might have a shopper on my hands, she loves going into stores. Then we spent the afternoon with the Newman clan and she showed everyone just how chill of a baby she really is. She didn't even fuss when all of the baby toys were put on her for decoration. Today we are going to go for a walk to the park and then surprise Daddy at the airport.

Daycare Diaries
This week Adelyn started a new daycare. This is the daycare that I called as soon as I got pregnant to get on the waiting list. It only took 18 months to finally get in...crazy. It is a very highly regarded daycare, but more importantly it is less than 2 blocks from our house. Brian and I can now go 5 days a week without having to use the car which is amazing.
Although Addy is one of the easiest babies I've ever seen, it still was an adjustment for everyone (or maybe just her parents) to get used to the new daycare. On Monday I was filled with the same guilt I had the first time I took her to daycare and I was worried about her all day and how she would adjust. Luckily they agreed she is a very happy & well adjusted baby so she got through the day just fine. And now after a week and a few minor adjustments to her feeding schedule, everyone is happy with the new arrangement. Addy is now fully finger-food functional. She loves to feed herself and actually does a pretty good job of getting the food into her mouth, at least by the second or third try. It is crazy to see how quickly she is growing up, before we know it she will be eating all of the same foods as her mom and dad.

Water World
Yesterday Brian and I took Addy swimming for the first time. We knew the outdoor pools would be packed (yes, summer finally arrived!). So we took her to an indoor pool not too far from our house and it was perfect. It wasn't crowded at all and Addy loved it! She never cried and seemed to really enjoy being in the water.
Afterward we warmed up with a walk in the beautiful hot weather. It was just perfect.

Summer Fun
Over the last week Addy got to spend some time hanging out with her pals. She had lots of fun with Lilja on the 4th of July weekend & went to the beach for the first time (mom forgot the camera for that part).

She also got to see Claire and Jack two weekends in a row. Here is a picture of Jack "holding" Addy and Claire and Addy in their matching outfits and just looking adorable.

It's in the Genes
When Brian's Grandma came to visit, she brought a picture of Wendy, Brian's mom, with her from when she was 4 months old. You can definitely see some similarities between Wendy and Addy, which makes sense because Brian looks so much like his mom.
Here is a comparison of Addy and Wendy, and a picture of Great-Grandma Elaine, Gramma Wendy and Adelyn. I would say Adelyn is a very lucky girl to get any of the genes of these two women.

July. Really? Are you sure?
It's July. This is a fact I find very hard to believe. First off, I have no idea where June went. I have become one of those people who constantly talks about how quickly time goes by. I remember when I used to think those people were crazy and now I'm one of them. Second, it looks like winter outside. Yes, I know where I live is rainy, but what makes up for that rain is that our summers are amazing. Beautiful blue sky and sun all summer long, but apparently not this year. No, this year it has been gray and gloomy. I could put up with the gray if it was at least warm, but it's not. It feels like winter too. I cannot get into any sort of 4th of July spirit when it feels like Thanksgiving outside. I need some sunshine in my life. Until then Addy and I will just have to fake it.
