After just one try he was already riding around like a pro and yelling, "This is so fun!" We can't believe how good his instincts are from so much time spent on the strider. He never fell once and he instinctively knew how to rebalance and steer and even put his feet down as needed. Not bad for a 3 year old!

Little League Day
On Saturday it was "Little League Day" which meant Addy had team pictures, a parade and a game. We were lucky that the weather cleared up so it was a pretty fun day. Addy is really having fun with t-ball and the games are pretty fun to watch. Cameron has a hard time paying attention but on Saturday there were some big kids playing so he preferred to watch their game of baseball. He had a million questions which tells me I think he's ready to go to a real baseball game.

Game of Telephone
When we were at the hotel the kids were playing with the telephone and we realized it was probably the first time they had seen a land line. Addy picked it up and said "wait, it's making a sound and I didn't even touch anything!" It was the dial tone. She'd never heard that before. Then the kids took turns making pretend calls and having conversations. It was hilarious listening to them talk and to see them so fascinated with something as simple as an "old-fashioned" telephone.

Portland
Instead of heading home on our last day, I surprised Brian for his birthday and we went to Portland to visit James and Keri. The beautiful weather continued and the kids had a great time playing outside and Brian was spoiled with cheesecake for his birthday. It was a perfect ending to our spring break vacation which actually felt like a vacation. The kids are so much more independent now and it was just a great family trip. We can't wait to do it again.

Seaside II
Our 2nd day in Seaside wasn't as warm but was equally fun. The day started at the aquarium which was next door to our hotel. The kids got to feed the seals and see all of the fish from the pacific including pyjama sharks. It was windy which made it perfect for flying the kite. The kids also rode bikes along the promenade that runs along the ocean shore. We walked around the downtown, the kids rode the carousel and we enjoyed some salt water taffy! We hit the pool again and had it all to ourselves for awhile and the kids really were practicing their swimming skills. We had such a good day and ended it with a movie night.

Spring Break!
For the last few days of spring break we decided to head down to the coast to Seaside, Oregon. We could not have been luckier because it was 80 degrees on Thursday! It felt like summer. We were on a beach, in April, and it was hot! Granted it was only one day of unseasonably warm weather but we enjoyed every minute of it!
The beach was beautiful and the kids had a blast playing in the sand and flying the kite. We ate ice cream, stayed up late, had donuts for breakfast, it felt like a real vacation! We think the Oregon coast might have to become a new tradition for us. Here are pictures from our first day.

Tulip Town
It was a beautiful day and I wasn't working so we decided to break tradition and try the tulip festival on a weekday in the afternoon. It seemed like a good idea until we got there and it took 20 minutes to go half a mile, but we made it! As always I am in awe of how beautiful these fields look with the brilliant colors of the tulips. I think it was even more beautiful with the 70 degree weather!
The kids were great, Addy couldn't pick which one was her favorite "they are all my favorite!" and Cameron couldn't get enough of the mud! It was a beautiful day and another year of our tulip festival tradition.

T-ball Time
Addy had her first t-ball practice last week and it was one of the cutest things I've ever seen. Her team is all 5 and 6 year olds and I'm pretty sure for most of them it is the first time they have ever played t-ball. They look awesome because they have team hats and shirts to wear so that makes up for not understanding how the game works. My favorite part was that the most likely person on the field to go after the ball was usually the baserunner. At least they were all having fun. It totally reminded me of my days on the field and makes me hopeful that Addy will be a softball player one day.

Little Gym
Last weekend the kids got to go to a birthday party at a Little Gym. They had a blast running around and playing on all of the equipment. Adelyn got to show off her gymnastic skills and I think they were literally bouncing and jumping non-stop for a full hour. Their favorite part was knocking down the huge mats together, which did look pretty fun.
