Best Dollar Ever

While at garage sales the other weekend I came across several items which made me ask "is this really something I need?" and most of the time the answer was no so I put it back. Since storage is not a luxury we have right now, I have to be picky about what is worth buying (or keeping) and what isn't, even if it is really cheap. Well I must admit I came across something which definitely wasn't necessary, definitely was impractical and definitely was worth the money. In fact, I would venture to say it was the best dollar I've ever spent.

Ladybugs, Horses, and Dogs..oh my!

Yesterday we headed down to Olalla to see our friends Kris and Sarah to celebrate their daughter Lilja's third birthday. It was a beautiful day for a party and it was so much fun. The theme was ladybugs and it was adorable. Addy didn't get to eat cake or ice cream but she did get to pet the dogs (three different ones!), see some horses and try out another swing. It was better than going to any park. She also got to sit in a chair just her size and play with some other little kids. It was a great way to spend a Saturday.

Swing Town

It was 78 degrees yesterday so after work we walked down to the playground by our house and put Addy into a baby swing. She wasn't sure what to think about it. She didn't hate it, but I wouldn't say she loved it either. It was surreal to actually be able to put her into something at a playground, especially one that we walked by so many times while I was pregnant. She is becoming such a big girl.

We also tried out our new highchair for the first time this morning. I know that I definitely love it and Addy seemed to love it too. Almost as much as she loves carrots.

Dress Up

In addition to getting some new clothes at the garage sales this weekend, I also got a ton of clothes from a friend of mine who's daughter is just 6 months older. It was awesome to go through her stuff and find so many great things, which then forced me to go through my stuff and get rid of the clothes Adelyn has outgrown. This also lead me to look through her clothes that she hasn't grown into yet to see if she's ready for any of those. Well, in this process, I found a dress (size 6-12 months) that my sister gave me when she was just a week old. I had to see if it would fit her now so, of course, I dressed her up in it, hat and everything. I swear to God I think she was posing for these pictures.

R&R

I'm so relieved this weekend ended better than it started. Friday I came home from work not feeling very well and within a couple hours it got progressively worse. I had a fever, was achy and feeling miserable. Poor Brian had to take care of Addy and me (good thing she can hold her own bottle).

Luckily, I slept it off (thanks to Brian getting up with Addy at night) and felt much better the next day. Addy and I hit the streets to check out some local garage sales with friends. We found some deals too good to pass up (sure to be a future post) and Addy was a dream all day long.

Today I woke up very well rested and fully recovered (thanks again to Brian for taking over at night). I came downstairs to find a wonderful surprise for Mother's Day, followed by a home-made delicious breakfast from Brian. He even went to get the groceries today for me. Talk about a treat!

We had a wonderful day together as a family, and I had a fantastic first Mother's Day.

PS. I love & miss you Mom.

Right on Track

Today we took Adelyn to her 6 month appointment & got to find out the latest stats on her height and weight. She now weighs 16 lbs 2 oz and is 26.5 inches long. She is in the 50-75th percentile for weight and 75-90th percentile for length. Everything looked great to the doctor. The only mystery is this rash around her eyes that seems to appear every weekend and disappears by mid-week. We can't figure out what is causing it but luckily it doesn't seem to bother Addy much, and she remains a happy smiley baby. She's now eaten bananas and squash and loves both. I definitely don't think we have a picky eater on our hands. Hopefully she'll be like her Dad and eat whatever is on her plate.

Chillin'

It was another low-key weekend for us just relaxing at home. Not much to report, Addy had fun just chillin' with her friends.
