Suprise

I must say I am feeling pretty proud of myself. It is not often that you can get anything past Brian and I managed to pull a good one off. I wanted to get some new pictures of Addy taken and framed for Brian for Father's Day. I managed to take time off of work to have my friend Ginny take the photos, buy the frames, hide them, and get the pictures in them, all without Brian noticing or suspecting a thing. I really don't know how I did it since he notices everything, but I gave the pictures to him and he had no idea. They are truly some of the best pictures ever and now we have them all over the house to enjoy. Here are just a few of my favorites.

Big Day

Yesterday was Adelyn's baptism and it was a very special day. Not only was it Father's Day, but she also had her Grandparents and Great Grandparents in town for her baptism. Addy was the cutest baby in the whole church and definitely had the most beautiful dress. Wendy took my wedding dress and had a baptism gown made out of it. She had the slip made from my wedding slip, the dress made from my dress (buttons and all) and a matching bonnet and booties. It was an absolutely beautiful dress and it was so special that it was made from my wedding dress. Adelyn also got a very precious gift from her Great Grandma Elaine. She gave Addy a gold necklace with a cross, which is the same gift her grandmother gave her which she wore to her baptism, confirmation and her wedding. Brian's mom and sister also followed this tradition and now Adelyn can continue it as well. Adelyn did a great job during the baptism and looked like an absolute angel. Brian and I were very proud of her.
It was so great to have Brian's family in town for the special day and to have them spend so much time with Addy. She definitely bonded with everyone and will miss them now that they are gone. I think she will be bored now that she's just stuck with just Mom and Dad and doesn't have the attention of a room full of people.

Family Ties

Tomorrow is Father's Day so I thought this post would be appropriate in honor of Brian. Last year while I was pregnant and we were visiting Brian's parents, Wendy showed us a trunk full of baby clothes that she had kept from her kids. We went through it and took several outfits with us, many that had been clothes that Brian had worn. Well last weekend Brian called me up to Addy's room and he had her dressed up in a pair of shorts that had been his as a baby. It was hilarious because they were too small for her, especially with her huge diaper. I had never seen her in a pair of shorts and it was so funny. I wish I had a picture of Brian wearing the same ones.

We are lucky enough to have Brian's family in town with us for the next several days. Addy got to meet her Great-Grandma and Grandpa Possehl for the first time and she has really been so great. She loves the attention and lucky for her there seems to be no shortage of it.

Party!

Saturday was a perfect day. It was almost 80 degrees, sunny and beautiful and we got to spend it with so many friends. It was our friends' daughter Mackenzie's first birthday party and it couldn't have been any better. (I already told Shayna she is planning Addy's first b-day). The weather was perfect, the food was delicious, the babies were adorable and it was so much fun. Addy loved seeing all of the other babies and playing outside on the grass. After the party we went to another friend's house for a BBQ and ping pong. These are the days that make summer so much fun. Here are pics of meeting Allia for the first time, Kenzie enjoying her birthday cupcake, Addy and her BFF Claire, taking in the sun and ending the day hanging with Claire again.

Play Date

I am in charge of dropping Addy off at daycare each morning. It's something that I don't really mind doing as she doesn't cry when I leave and she gets really excited when she sees the other kids. She especially likes this one little girl who is 4 years old and is always there in the morning. I also happen to like this little girl who is full of compliments and questions. Usually on most mornings, I will get a "I like your shoes" or "I like your necklace" and she also says something cute to Addy like "I like your red pants". I've grown so accustom to getting these compliments that on the days when she doesn't say anything I've found myself thinking "oh maybe this outfit doesn't look good" or "maybe these shoes don't go". Then I have to remind myself that she is FOUR and its ridiculous that I'm counting on her to give me an extra boost of confidence.

Well this morning we had an especially funny conversation. It went something like this.

Little Girl: "Good morning! I like Addy's shirt with the strawberry shortcake on it. I have a strawberry shortcake nightlight in my room. We live just up the street, where do you live? I've never been to your house."
Me: "Wow a strawberry shortcake light, aren't you lucky. We don't live too far away either & you're right you haven't been to our house before."
Little Girl: "I think Addy really likes me, she holds my finger & I really like her & I would like to see where you live."
Me: "I think she likes you too, maybe sometime you can to come to our house for a play date".
Little Girl: "I can't really play with Addy, she's just a baby. We can't have a play date."

And I was left thinking "silly me, of course you can't...I knew I shouldn't have worn this shirt."

So Big

There were a number of things that happened this week which made me realize just how big Adelyn is becoming. While each milestone was very exciting, it also made me a little sad to see another stage coming to an end. One exciting thing was to see Addy actually eat something on her own for the first time. I got her one of those rings that has a little mesh bag on the end that you can put fruit it so she can feed herself. All she really gets out of it is juice but she really likes it and isn't very happy when it is all gone. She has tried pears and mangos and loved them both.
We have also started giving her a sippy cup with water. She doesn't know quite what to think of it, but she definitely likes playing with it and knows something is supposed to come out of it. The first time she actually got water out of it I don't think she had any idea how she did it, and she still isn't quite sure how to do it.
Today was finally a nice day so we went for a walk and for the first time Addy rode in her stroller without her car seat attachment. Now she faces the front instead of facing back at us. It's a whole new world for her on walks now. It's exciting and I can't believe our little baby is getting so big.
