All I Want for Christmas is my Two Front Teeth

It's official, Addy's song for the holidays needs to be "All I Want For Christmas is My Two Front Teeth." On Sunday she lost her 2nd front tooth and is up to 4. Lucky for her the tooth fairy still came to visit even with Papa in her bed. I can't believe how quickly she is growing up!

Pre-Christmas Christmas!

Since my Dad was in town we decided to have a little Christmas early and the kids got to open gifts from my family. Looking back it probably wasn't the best idea since both kids were already pretty overwhelmed with the day, but we went for it anyway. Cameron really didn't want to open anything because that just took him away from him cars & trains, but he managed to show interest in a few things. Addy was all to eager to help anyone who needed it open their presents. I think 5 years olds must be the best to watch open presents because she was so genuinely happy with everything. Lots of "oohs" and "aahhs" and "this is just what I always wanted!" it was pretty cute to watch. 

Every year my Grandma amazes me at her ability to buy the most original and appropriate gifts, this year was no exception. She gave me a handmade recipe book filled with all of her most famous (and delicious) recipes. Complete with an apron for both Addy and I so we can cook together! I absolutely love it and can't wait to try them out! Such a treat to open presents early!

Dance Recital

As if Saturday wasn't exciting enough with Cameron's birthday, we also had Adelyn's dance recital that afternoon. I was more than a little scared of what to expect because they had pretty high expectations for how she was supposed to arrive (full stage makeup instructions and how-to-make-the-perfect-bun instructions!) but luckily I enlisted the help of some fellow moms at the party.
Sarah helped make her hair look perfect and I just couldn't believe how some "stage" makeup made her look so much older. It was precious and terrifying at the same time.
Adelyn's class was act 3 of 22. I was a little worried about what a 22-act recital would be like but it was super fun and every dance was really entertaining to watch. It was great because Addy got to watch them all as well and loved it. Her class did such a great job, she was so focused and I was so proud of her. Again, it was awesome to have Papa visiting us because he got to see it as well.
I forgot to bring her flowers so instead we went out for frozen yogurt! I don't think she minded at all:)

Cameron turned 2 on Saturday! We had a "Chugga Chugga Two Two" party at our house and I might have gone a little overboard with the train theme, but it was just too fun! Unfortunately there were a few last minute cancelations due to sick kiddos, but we made the most of it and had a great time. Cameron was absolutely, completely, totally obsessed with the Thomas the Train set he got. He wouldn't let anyone else touch it or play with it and insisted on sleeping with Thomas each night. It was an especially wonderful birthday because Papa was there to celebrate with us. Now if Cameron can just accept that he turned two and not six which is what he keeps telling everyone!
It was a wonderful day and I cannot believe my little man is already two years old!

God Bless Santa & Groceries

Yesterday I managed to go to the grocery store with just 1 kid instead of the usual 2, so it was just Cameron and I. I'm not sure which of us was more surprised by the appearance of Santa Claus at the grocery store! We've never done Santa photos (the lines just don't seem worth it to me!) so I wasn't sure how Cameron would react. I should have known that he would've walked right up to him and said hello and then pointed out that Santa was wearing gloves and boots and that he wasn't. We saw him right when we got to the store and then as we did our shopping Cameron told everyone we saw that he saw Santa Claus. 

We had to walk by him again on the way out so Cameron went back to say hello so I snapped a quick photo. Cameron just loved it and talked about it all the way home, "On leg, I sat on Santa's leg." Tonight when we were saying our prayers Cameron said, "God Bless Santa, and groceries and all of the people at the grocery store!"

Super Sweet

This weekend the kids and I embraced the holiday season (do you see a theme yet?) and decided to make Christmas cookies. I was prepared for a disaster and it turned out to be such a great time. The kids LOVED decorating the cookies and I must say did an awesome job. It was so much fun to see them "create" the perfect cookies. I thought Cameron might let me help him a little bit, but was definitely wrong. He wanted to do everything himself and was a cookie decorating maniac. Addy was her usual careful, deliberate self and did a fantastic job decorating each cookie just perfectly.
It was so much fun I think we might need to do it again this weekend!

Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas in more ways than one! We woke up Saturday to a few inches of snow and the kids were so excited we immediately went out to play in it. We had tons of fun. It wasn't good snow for building snowmen, but it was perfect for throwing in the air to make it snow and for snow angels. We then decided to go on a "snow walk" and it was just beautiful out!
The most surprising thing is that 4 days later we still have the snow. I think this is the longest I've ever seen snow stick around here. I couldn't be happier, I love some snow to make it feel like Christmas and it's even better knowing it'll be gone by the end of the week.
