Rain Rain Go Away

It was a rainy, rainy Memorial Day weekend. We didn't go anywhere and I don't think it mattered much as it rained most of the weekend. The only time it got nice was Monday afternoon, just in time to remember that we have to go back to work. It was a good weekend for spending lots of time with Addy though. She really needed it too because she was teething all weekend long. We sort of missed the teething signs the first time around when she got her bottom teeth, but not this time. She had all of the classic signs and was definitely a lot fussier than normal. She seems to be getting better though and I can already feel a tiny little bit of a tooth on the top.

7 months

Adelyn is 7 months old and she loves eating solids now. Her favorites include bananas, peas and carrots. She is fascinated watching Brian and I eat dinner and tries to grab at everything on the table. She is very good at rolling around on the floor but hasn't shown any signs of crawling which is perfectly fine with me. I figure the longer it takes her to figure that out the better. It gives Brian and I more time to childproof our house. Addy also loves to sing, especially in the car, and yes, I really think she is singing. She and Brian sing back and forth to each other and it's one of the cutest things I've ever heard.

In this picture she's thinking "my Papa went to NY and all I got was this lousy t-shirt."

Hush Little Baby

I'm not going to name any names because I wouldn't want to jinx anything, but a certain someone in our house has slept through the night without any feedings for 6 nights a row! It is amazing. I kept telling myself that one of these days I'd have to work on weaning her from the 3 am feeding but she beat me to it.
I'm also happy to report that last Friday night we had a friend come over and watch Addy for a few hours and she went down for the night without any issues. It was the first time someone else was in charge of the bedtime routine, so I wasn't sure how it would go, but luckily it was great. I swear we have the best baby ever, but I'm not going to name any names because I really wouldn't want to jinx it.

Chatterbox

Chances are good that if Adelyn is not eating, sleeping or sucking on her pacifier, she is probably babbling. She loves to talk and to repeat the same sounds over and over. Her favorites include "yaya", "dada", "gaga", "papa" and "baba" (sadly no mention of "mama" yet). She doesn't say any of them in reference to anything specific and won't say them when prompted (especially papa), but she's almost always saying something. She likes to sing along with me when I sing her songs (I can't imagine it's because she doesn't like my singing). My favorite is when she wakes up in the morning and immediately starts talking. She's not crying or yelling, just talking to herself. I would really love to know what it is she thinks she is saying.

Best Dollar Ever

While at garage sales the other weekend I came across several items which made me ask "is this really something I need?" and most of the time the answer was no so I put it back. Since storage is not a luxury we have right now, I have to be picky about what is worth buying (or keeping) and what isn't, even if it is really cheap. Well I must admit I came across something which definitely wasn't necessary, definitely was impractical and definitely was worth the money. In fact, I would venture to say it was the best dollar I've ever spent.

Ladybugs, Horses, and Dogs..oh my!

Yesterday we headed down to Olalla to see our friends Kris and Sarah to celebrate their daughter Lilja's third birthday. It was a beautiful day for a party and it was so much fun. The theme was ladybugs and it was adorable. Addy didn't get to eat cake or ice cream but she did get to pet the dogs (three different ones!), see some horses and try out another swing. It was better than going to any park. She also got to sit in a chair just her size and play with some other little kids. It was a great way to spend a Saturday.

Swing Town

It was 78 degrees yesterday so after work we walked down to the playground by our house and put Addy into a baby swing. She wasn't sure what to think about it. She didn't hate it, but I wouldn't say she loved it either. It was surreal to actually be able to put her into something at a playground, especially one that we walked by so many times while I was pregnant. She is becoming such a big girl.

We also tried out our new highchair for the first time this morning. I know that I definitely love it and Addy seemed to love it too. Almost as much as she loves carrots.
