School's out!

Last week was also Cameron's last day at his daycare. He will be starting a new preschool in the fall so we had to say goodbye to the place that he's been since he was a baby. I can't believe how quickly this time went by and we were lucky to have found so many wonderful teachers there. It's the end of a major chapter of our lives.

Graduation Girl

On Wednesday, Addy had her Kindergarten graduation. I wasn't sure what to expect given how surprised and emotional I was at her preschool graduation. Apparently my emotional weakness comes out during graduations! Within minutes of it starting I already had tears in my eyes, I think it's the music that gets to me! The kids did a processional with their caps and they just looked so proud and adorable. Then they played an awesome slideshow that the teacher put together showing videos and photos from throughout the year. I couldn't stop crying while watching it.
Then Addy got her certificate of completion from the teacher (who is the best ever!) who did a really good job of recognizing just how much these kids accomplished in kindergarten. I think it is true that there is no other single year of school when kids make such dramatic improvements from the beginning of the year to the end. Then I really lost it when her teacher went out of her way to recognize the contribution Brian had made to the classroom through his weekly volunteering. He was presented with a book from the kids and a special thank you. I could not have been more proud of both Adelyn and Brian!
Luckily the ceremony wasn't too long so I was able to pull it together and the kids celebrated with snacks and cupcakes. It was a wonderful program and we now have a first-grader in the house!

 Her mini graduate says "When I grow up I want to be an artist and paint pictures." 

Bucket List

Summer has officially arrived and Addy knows exactly what she wants to do. She made the cutest "bucket list" for her summer plans. Here are a few pics and her other items included:

- go to a spray park & the city park

- go camping

- go to a water park

- go swimming 

I think it is safe to say she will probably be able to cross everything off by the end of the summer! Thank god she has realistic summer expectations!

Pool Time!

For Easter the kids got a swimming pool and have been asking constantly ever since when we can set it up. It was finally time over the weekend (Happy Father's day!) so they got to work getting everything just right. They have been so excited about this pool and even though the weather has not been great and the water has not been warm, they have been in it every day since. Here is documentation of the big day and a sneak peek to how I imagine they will spend a lot of their time this summer.

Addy has been working very hard on something at school and was very excited to show it to Brian and I. Her class made awesome cap & gown invitations for their kindergarten graduation. I was very impressed with how much detail they put into these and Addy was so proud to show it to us. I cannot wait for her big day and can't believe her first year of school is almost over...even though June will almost be over by that time!

Weekend Away

Last weekend Brian had his annual boys weekend at a cabin in northern MN so the kids and I had a fun-filled weekend trying to stay cool in our record breaking heat (93 on Sunday!) We had a great time. I took Friday off and Cameron & I spent the day together and I was continually reminded of "what Daddy usually does". It was quite funny because throughout the entire day Cameron would tell me what the routine was with Daddy and if I deviated at all he would say, "that's not usually what Daddy does next, usually we do ...." At one point he gave me turn-by-turn directions to Costco and told me where "Daddy usually parks." It was quite funny.
On Sunday I went with the neighbors to an event called "Touch-a-Truck" it was exactly what it sounds like, we went to a huge open parking lot where there were lots of different trucks that you could go into. Firetrucks, ambulances, buses, cement trucks, garbage trucks, the Amazon "treasure truck". I thought Cameron would love it and he sort of did; from afar. He would pick out a truck, we would wait in line and then when it was his turn to go in he would get scared and not go in it. By the 3rd truck I was onto him and it was already 90 degrees out so we skipped the lines and just opted to go up to them without waiting to go in. Then the whining set in (I blame the heat) so we took off and decided to head to the neighborhood pool. I was a little worried about having both kids without Brian but a bunch of our neighborhood friends and kids all decided to go so I had some extra help. It was super fun and a perfect day to be at the pool. Addy learned how to dive down and get things off the bottom of the pool!
We had another get together on Monday after school and all of the kids enjoyed running through the sprinklers and eating popsicles. It is so nice to have so many families nearby to hangout with, I think it's going to be a great summer. Brian got back on Tuesday and we were very happy to have him back! We had fun but things are much better with Daddy around!

Carnival Time!

Friday night we went to the carnival at Adelyn's school. It was an amazing event that the school put on. They had games, slides, ponies, food and prizes! We had a blast and I managed to get out of there without having to buy any cotton candy.
The kids both got to go on a pony ride. Addy rode Paisley the tiniest pony and Cameron rode Chocolate Chip. Cameron was talking a big game and was excited to be a cowboy, but as soon as he got on the pony he changed his mind. He still rode it, but he never let go of my hand and his bottom lip had a pretty strong quiver the whole time. Addy loved the big slide and again talked Cameron into doing it, but when he got to the front of the line he changed his mind.
The kids did awesome at the games they played, the bean bag toss, tip-a-troll, ring toss and fishing. They also got their face painted and then at the end got to turn in their tickets for prizes. It was a super fun event and they are already excited for next year!
