Shoes, Shoes and More Shoes

The story of Adelyn and her shoes continues. I had called my sister a few weeks ago to tell her how sad Addy was when her shoe broke. Well my sister wasn't going to let that be the end of the story and I had forgotten to tell her when the shoes had been replaced. So, when my Dad arrived bearing gifts, Adelyn was literally to the moon when she saw not 1, not 2, not 3 but 4 new pairs of princess shoes. She immediately had to lay them all out and organize them, count them and categorize them (Cinderella shoes, Rapunzal shoes, Sleeping Beauty shoes...). I think she obsessed over the shoes for a good 30 minutes and couldn't even be bothered to see what other presents she got. And lucky for us we can now survive several rounds of broken heels because we've got a lot of options to choose from. Thanks Keri!

The Party

After Cameron's baptism we had a small get together with some friends, family and neighbors and it was a great time. The weather didn't quite cooperate but the kids did! It was a lot of fun and was a very special day for Cameron.

Cameron's Baptism

Cameron's baptism was on Sunday and it was such a great day! Unfortunately we didn't get the gorgeous weather from Saturday, but it really wasn't too bad. Cameron was great for the baptism, but gave us some excitement by having a blowout on the way to church. Luckily all was well and he was a perfect angel during the service. I can't get over how adorable he looked in his little vest! We had a brunch at our house afterwards and it was just a great day. We felt truly blessed, right along with Cameron.

Papa Makes Me Smile

A few months ago I was shopping for Addy and found a shirt that say "My Papa Makes Me Smile". I knew I had to get it and since my Dad came to visit us last weekend so it was the perfect time for Addy to wear it (even though I forgot to take pictures!). I think it's fair to say that Papa made both kids smile and they made him smile. It was so sweet to see him with Addy and Cameron. He spent all of Friday with Addy and took her on a ferry ride and to her dance class. It was so cute! He also got to spend a lot of quality time with Cameron. He didn't believe us, but just holding Cameron while we got stuff done was so helpful! My Dad couldn't believe what a happy baby Cameron was and thinks he's going to be a singer because of all the sounds he was making.

Stats

I took Cameron to the doctor this week for his 6 month checkup and his stats were as follows:

Weight: 18 pounds (60%)
Height: 27 3/4 (90%)
Head: 17.5 (70%)

His size continues to impress me. He is actually 2 pounds more than Addy was and over an inch taller. We actually thought we'd have to switch him out of the infant seat, but we still have a few pounds to go. Although I can barely carry him in it anymore anyway.

Hilarious

Seriously. What is funnier than a baby with a moustache. I can't think of anything. Cameron wins.

One Tapato Two Tapato

Disclaimer: I realize this post won't translate well since it is one of those "you had to be there stories" but since this is a record about my kids I have to have this written down so I can remember it someday. It will always bring a smile to my face.

Every night I read to Addy before bed. The patience she has for books still amazes me. Several months ago we were reading a nursery rhyme book and there was a rhyme called One Potato, Two Potato. The whole thing is just:

One potato, two potato,
Three potato, four;
Five potato, six potato,
Seven potato, more!

Well for whatever reason Addy started saying this over and over but she kept saying tapato instead of potato. It was one of those things that made me laugh so hard I cried. It takes a lot to make me laugh out loud, but given the right circumstances, once I start it's hard for me to stop. This was one of those times and Addy couldn't stop laughing either. So there we were both laughing hysterically, truly until it hurt, saying "one topato, two tapato" over and over and over. We couldn't ever get past the first line because we were laughing so hard no other words would come.

This moment must have really stuck with Addy because to this day as soon as she starts to say "one tapato, two tapato" she starts laughing instantly and hysterically. Occasionally it makes me laugh loudly, but never quite the same as the first time so I think it confuses Addy that I don't react the same each time. What I find the most fascinating is when a new funny situation happens that makes me laugh, Addy almost always brings up one tapato two tapato. Just tonight we were laughing about something else and she mentioned those words. I think she's always trying to recreate the magic of the first time and to see if she can get me to laugh as hard as that. I love that it's so easy for her to go back to that original moment and her reaction and it's a good reminder to me to just stop and enjoy a good laugh when I get the chance.
