Shhh...Don't Tell Daddy

While you were gone, maybe we ate dessert and maybe we licked the beaters (even the wrong end), maybe we made a big mess. But we didn't eat too much, we had lots of fun, we cleaned up our mess, but we really missed you!

Bride in Waiting

Brian was out of town the last several days on a well-deserved boys weekend. I planned our weekend full of play dates, brunches and dinners to keep us busy and it worked! We had a great time and the long weekend actually went by very fast, which is lucky because Brian will be a day later than expected (I'm guessing he's also a dollar short).
The kids were great and we did have a lot of fun, although I can't ever go a weekend like this without wondering how in the world single parents do this every day. Anyway, as a treat for a well-behaved weekend, we went to a consignment store and the kids got to pick something out. Addy picked out a beautiful dress-up dress and decided to be a snow princess (named Elsa maybe?). Here she is waiting for her prince (Brian) trying to hide her disappointment that he won't be home in time to see her. While we were taking pics he called so I got a few of her talking to him on the phone.
Cameron picked out shoes, I'm telling you this kid is obsessed with shoes. Since his feet are growing like weeds (almost a 7 already!) I think he will be going through several pairs very quickly.
We had a great time but we miss our knight in shining armor!

Let it Go

The Easter Bunny brought Adelyn the movie Frozen and she has watched it several times since then. Cameron has not watched it yet, however we must be singing the songs a lot because now he smiles every time he hears "Let it Go". The other day, his teacher told Brian that Cameron heard some kids singing this song and totally started smiling and dancing. Brian was telling me this story during dinner and Cameron immediately started smiling. So I pulled up the song on my phone and Cameron started saying "go" and putting his arms out like he was singing. It was hilarious! I should have done video because this just doesn't do it justice, but it makes me laugh every time I hear it and I picture him saying "goooo."

Addy, on the other hand, does not appreciate it when Brian and I sing any song from Frozen. She gets very angry with us when we sing, Brian finally convinced her it was ok as long as we sing very quietly and let her be the "lead" vocal.  Lucky me, I have this song in my head all day long, I just can't seem to let it go:)

17 months

Cameron is 17 months old. The other night I said "love you Cameron" and he said back "love you Mama." My heart melted on the spot. He then said it over and over and I just couldn't get enough of it. It amazes me how good his vocabulary is. He has lots of two or three word phrases now including, "milk please", "thank you mama", "night night Addy" and "books please."
He knows exactly what we are talking about, especially when we talk about him. He makes the silliest faces I've ever seen and he is always happy. He loves to say "happy" and then smile and the other morning he actually woke up crying and when I went in to get him I asked him if he was happy and he said "no" and I said are you sad he said "yes." Luckily Addy came in two seconds later and he was happy and then said "happy."
He's obsessed with doggies and says all of the time that he sees one (even though I know he doesn't) but it's even more confusing because he says "daddy" and it sounds like "doggy" even Brian gets confused. Addy is the only one who can tell what he's trying to say.
Still my favorite thing is how every morning when we get to school he has his "swagger walk" into the class. His head is down, belly out and arms are swinging. His teachers and I can't stop laughing when he does it and I swear he knows and does it on purpose now.
Here he is enjoying the first corn on the cob of the year and his first one ever!

Happy Mother's Day

We were blessed with a beautiful sunny day for Mother's day. I got to sleep in and wake up to breakfast and coffee waiting for me. The kids had both made me cards at school and Addy decorated me a t-shirt and Cameron decorated a flower pot. It was adorable! Brian gave me the gift of kid-free shopping and I enjoyed every minute of it. After I came home we played outside and enjoyed the sunshine. It was a wonderful day. I am so lucky to have such incredible children and a wonderful husband. Life is good for this mama. Happy Mother's Day to all of the wonderful women in my life!

Surprise!

Papa surprised us all last weekend by flying in to help me celebrate 10 years at Chef'n. He got to embarrass toast me in front of all my coworkers and we had a fun party Friday night. The kids got lucky because they got to see grandparents two weekends in a row. It was a rainy drizzly weekend but we still had a lot of fun. Cameron showed off all of his new tricks and Papa and Addy watched Frozen. It was a fun weekend. I didn't suspect a thing, Brian and my dad pulled it off perfectly!

If You're Happy and You Know It

There is no question the kids had fun when Grandma and Grandpa came. There was an endless amount of laughing and singing and stories. There were several times that we were all laughing so hard we could hardly speak. The kids had a blast and it was so fun to observe them bonding with Grandma and Grandpa.
Cameron showed off all of his tricks and successfully made us laugh during every meal. He is such an entertainer and you can tell he loves getting a laugh. He is good at it.
